24 October NEW ELEMENTS, 2 meter high in Carrara marble, was installed in the “Sky Garden”, 30 meter above ground level in a new residency in Austin Road, Hong Kong. The combination of water, the sculpture and the green garden gives a meditative sensation and is a place for contemplation and rest. In New Elements the dynamics and balance between the two forms (one connected to the earth and the other one on its way up) is what I want to express . The project was supported and sponsored by the State Arts Grants Council Sweden, the Swedish and the Norwegian Embassies in Rome, The Swedish Institute for Classical Studies in Rome, Commune of Carrara, Mega Stone Factory, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Carrara, Fondazione Sem, Volvo Trucks Italy, Fantini Sud Spa Italy, Atlas Coco Italy, SAS Institute Sweden. During the entire month of June 2011, 7 Scandinavian artists participated in a sculpture symposium at the active Querciola marble quarry above Colonnata Basin in Carrara, Italy. Owned by the Patacchi family and their company Mega Stone Factory, the quarry is one of the largest in the area.
